Techopedia Explains IP Surveillance

With IP surveillance, IP-ready cameras can transmit visual information directly to the Internet. The owners of these cameras can then check the result via a mobile device, a laptop computer or any other Internet-connected device. This makes remote surveillance much more convenient. Other benefits of IP surveillance over CCTV monitoring include easier installation, better quality of images, the use of file compression to make surveillance more cost-efficient, and improved search functions. IP surveillance also shows how far image and video security has come from the old analog days when security managers had to store images on VHS tape and deal with all of the challenges that came along with those old systems.
